One of the greatest demands of the modern game is to attack the opponent. The batsman sent the ball into the stands, wowing the crowd and boosting his confidence. Gayle, the legend who played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), broke 357 sixes in 141 innings in 13 IPL seasons.
Only two
times, in his acclaimed IPL career, has Gayle racked up 50+ sixes in a season, with 59 being his best tally in the 2012 IPL.During his record 175 not against the now-defunct Pune Warriors in the 2013 IPL, Gayle hit 17 sixes in those great innings, which is the most batsmen in the IPL that has yet to be surpassed or leveled. Gayle’s RCB teammate AB de Villiers is second on the list of the top six in the IPL. The former South African batsman has hit 251 sixes in 184 games but the gap between Gayle and De Villiers is 106 sixes.
Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is third on the list and has hit the most sixes, 240, by an Indian batsman in the moneyed league.
Chennai Super Kings talisman MS Dhoni has beaten a top 229 from his pasture in the last 15 seasons. Only three left-handed batsmen with more than six hits in the IPL are in the top 10. Shane Watson and Kieron Pollard are the only two batsmen in the top 10, with most six hitting less than 4,000 runs. Rajasthan Royals opening batsman Jos Buttler broke the most sixes (45) in IPL 2022 while Punjab Kings middle-order batsman Liam Livingstone completed second with 34 tops.
