Shooters Arjun Babuta and Tilottama Sen secure 2024 Paris Olympics quota

Arjun Babuta and Tilottama Sen have secured their places at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Asian Shooting Championships held in Changwon, South Korea.

Where 24 Olympic slots were available. Each country awards a ticket to Paris to only the top two finishers in each of the 12 Olympic shooting events.

Arjun Babuta earned his Olympic quota in the men’s 10m air rifle event by claiming the silver medal in Changwon. He demonstrated his excellence by topping the qualifying round with a score of 633.4 and scoring 251.2 in the finals. However, he narrowly missed the gold, which went to China’s Sheng Lihao. Arjun Babuta shared the podium with Naoya Okada, who secured the bronze.

Meanwhile, Tilottama Sen secured her spot in the women’s 10m air rifle event by finishing in second place. Despite a slow start in the qualifying round, where she ranked sixth with a score of 630.5, the 15-year-old Indian shooter improved her performance in the finals, scoring 252.3 to claim the silver. Arjun Babuta and Tilottama Sen’s confirmation of participation in the Olympics has now fully determined the Indian team for the 10m air rifle event in Paris. Rudrankksh Patil and Mehuli Ghosh are the other two Indian shooters who have also qualified for the 10m air rifle event in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.

Indian Shooters Qualify for 2024 Paris Olympics

In addition to Arjun Babuta and Tilottama Sen, eight other Indian shooters have successfully secured their places at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Rajeshwari Kumari and Bhowneesh Mendiratta qualified in the men’s and women’s trap events, while Sift Kaur Samra, Swapnil Kusale, and Akhil Sheoran earned Olympic quotas in the women’s and men’s 50m rifle 3 positions events. Sarabjot Singh secured a spot in the men’s 10m air pistol event, and Rudrankksh Patil and Mehuli Ghosh have also qualified for the men’s and women’s 10m air rifle events.
