India becomes the No.1 ODI team upon beating New Zealand 3-0

India has become the No. 1 team in the ICC-ODI rankings after beating New Zealand by 90 runs in Indore, beating the Kiwis 3-0 in the series. The Men in Blue won the first match by 12 runs in Hyderabad and also the next match by 8 wickets in Raipur. This was India’s second clean win in a row after beating Sri Lanka last week. This has been done by the Indian team in current India vs New Zealand Tour.

Kiwis find themselves in fourth place. Australia is the team that ranks third overall. India now has 114 Elo points, while England has 113 and Australia has 112. After the match, New Zealand has 111 points.

England can reclaim first place if they beat South Africa 3-0 in their next ODI series. In this final match, Rohit Sharma scored his first ODI hundred in three years. Shubman Gill continued his dominance with another great ton as India clinched a clean win on Tuesday.

Batsmen from both sides hammered so much, as 680 runs were scored at Holkar Stadium. Rohit (101 balls out of 85) hit triple digits for the first time since January 2020. While Gill (112 for 78) scored his fourth ODI hundred to take India to 385 for nine. After two wickets, New Zealand’s top order put on a much better show. Devon Conway (138) made crucial partnerships, but Shardul Thakur (3/45) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/62) struck regularly, beating the Kiwis by 295 in 41.2 overs.
