Venus Williams, world number 697 and seven-time Grand Slam champion was knocked out of the Birmingham Classic in the round of 16 by second-seeded Jelena Ostapenko.

Venus, who upset a top 50 player in the round of 32 for the first time in nearly four years, was eliminated by Ostapenko 3-6, 7-5, 3-6.
