The No. 9 seed in world badminton Prannoy resumed his winning ways by defeating championship silver medalist Shi Yu in the opening round of the Men’s Singles of the 2018 Qi World Cup after bouncing back from a sluggish second game. The All-England Championship finalist Shi Yu Qi of China was defeated by badminton superstar HS Prannoy of India in the men’s singles pre-quarterfinals of the Swiss Open Super 300 badminton competition.
Overall 14 Indians will fight for a place in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. Two-time Olympic medalist and fourth-seeded PV Sindhu also got her title
Prannoy next meets France’s Christo Popov, while Sindhu meets 20-year-old Indonesia’s Putri Kusuma Wardani, who was part of the gold-medal-winning team at the 2022 Asian Team Championships. Furthermore, on Thursday, Kidambi Srikanth will play against Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu.
