Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the Indian women’s badminton team on their historic win at the Asian Badminton Championships, describing it as a “historic achievement” and hailing the exemplary role of ‘nari shakti’ of India. (Women’s power) in sports.
The Indian women’s team, led by vice-captain PV Sindhu, beat Thailand with an impressive 3-2 victory in the final held in Shah Alam, Malaysia.
Anmol Kharb’s brilliant performance in the fifth innings resulted in India’s historic win.
In a post on social media X, Prime Minister Modi
“Historic achievement! Congratulations to the amazing Indian team who, for the first time, won the women’s singles trophy at the Asian Badminton Championships,” he wrote.
Highlighting the importance of the team’s success, Modi emphasized that their victory will be an inspiration to sportspersons across the country. “Their success will inspire many future athletes,” he added.
The President also praised the overall range of Indian women athletes in various sports, terming their excellence as “amazing”.
