Connecticut Sun All-Star teammates Alyssa Thomas, DeWanna Bonner announce they’re engaged to be married

The couple has been publicly dating since Valentine’s Day 2021, around a year after the Sun purchased Bonner.

Even though the WNBA Playoffs are still a few months away, Connecticut Sun forward DeWanna Bonner already owns a ring. The club revealed on Friday that Bonner and colleague Alyssa Thomas are now engaged.

To share the good news, The Sun shared a photo of Thomas getting down on one knee and proposing to Bonner on social media. The two have been publicly dating since Valentine’s Day 2021, around a year after the Phoenix Mercury traded Bonner to the Sun.

Bonner has added two additional All-Star appearances and second-team All-WNBA honours to her CV after being traded to the Sun. Bonner is averaging 18.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game this season.

Thomas has spent her entire WNBA career with the Sun, who drafted her fourth overall in 2014. Thomas, like Bonner, has been instrumental in the Sun’s success this season. Thomas is averaging 14.8 points per game, 9.5 rebounds, and 8.0 assists. She recently made her fourth All-Star appearance.

With a 16-6 record, the Sun are now third in the WNBA rankings. Thomas and Bonner will have another opportunity to win a ring by the end of the 2023 season.
