Chetan Sharma resigns from the post of Chief Selector, BCCI due to the ‘sting operation’ controversy
As per expectation after a whole drama of the ‘sting operation’, BCCI Chief selector Chetan Sharma tendered his resignation from the post of BCCI Chairman. According to the report, Mr. Jay Shah, BCCI has accepted the resignation.
In this January, BCCI retained Mr. Chetan Sharma as their chief selector, but the whole panel had removed in November 2022. This had a reason. India lost very badly in the T20I World Cup Semifinal last year held in Australia. After the fresh appointment of the remaining panel, Sharma became the Chief selector in the panel.
After Sharma’s exit, the remaining selection panel is Salil Ankola, SS Das, Subrato Banerjee, and S Sharath. BCCI will appoint a new Chief selector soon.

What was exactly in the ‘sting operation’?
Sharma shared a lot of inside stories during the sting operation on 14th February 2023. Sharma explicitly shared many inside stories of the BCCI’s functioning. He briefly explained the ego clash between great Virat Kohli and ex-BCCI chairman Mr. Ganguly. He also explained the dispute over the captaincy removal of Virat and the replacement with Rohit Sharma. He explained the sequence of instances very casually.
Chetan Sharma had briefly told the story of fitness and injury with main Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah, just before the ongoing season in India. Jasprit Bumrah is out of the team due to fitness issues caused by the injury. Chetan Sharma also pointed out the use of injections for the fitness requirement, by some players to stay fit. All these revealed things are very serious and sensitive for any prestigious cricket team and team management.
