Maiden Women’s IPL Likely To Be Played From March 3 To 26

IPL 2023 is scheduled to start on April 1 next year, while the maiden women’s IPL season is expected to run from March 3-26. Both competitions will be held in India.

The BCCI has yet to finalize the calendar, but she has set a time slot for her WIPL, which will begin one week later in the 2023 Women’s T20 World Championships Final, in Cape Town on February 2.

According to a leading cricket platform, in connection with the IPL, BCCI will determine the availability of foreign players before announcing the dates for tournaments. The 10-team event will resume its home-away structure after being postponed due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.

The BCCI will likely aim to complete the IPL by the end of May, as England and Ireland play their final tests at Lord’s from June 1-4. The second ICC World Test Championship will take place at The Oval a few days later; India has a chance to assert itself. The Ashes begin at this point in June.

The board announced the Media-rights tender for the first five seasons of the WIPL, 2023 to 2027, on Friday. Despite the fact that December 31, 2022, is the deadline for picking up the tender, it has been discovered that the bids will be opened around January 8.

The BCCI has selected to use the closed-bid procedure in lieu of an online auction. It is found that the board has not established a starting price for any of the three categories for which rights will be sold; television, digital, and a combination of the two. More information will become available once the bidders receive the tender document.

In October of this year, BCCI presented the WIPL strategy to its member national authorities. The plan was approved at the annual meeting of the Board of Directors.

The proposal calls for five franchise teams to play 22 games and compete in the league. Each squad can have up to 18 players, including up to six foreign players, and each starting XI can have up to five foreign players (4 from full member countries). One person from the ICC’s associate member countries).

Each team will face the other team twice during the league phase of the WIPL (20 games total), with the best-performing team advancing directly to the championship game. A match between the league’s second and third-placed clubs determines the second finalist.

Coming to the maiden women’s IPL season, the tournament is anticipated to run from March 3-26, 2023. The tournament will be held in India.
