RCB introduced Green Jersey in 2011 as part of their ‘Go Green initiative,’ which aims to promote environmental sustainability and raise awareness of green issues. They have played a game in green shirts every season since then. Fans have earned RCB’s green jersey over the years and received praise for their innovative approach to using the cricket platform to raise awareness of environmental issues.  The franchise has used Green Jersey games as an opportunity to spread messages about conservation, sustainability, and the need to protect the planet.

The Bangalore franchise shared details of its green play at IPL 2023, tweeting: “Green match will be there against Rajasthan Royals at Chinnaswami Stadium on April 23rd.  Our special green jerseys are made from 100% recycled material and are now available on the RCB website and app. #Play Bold #ನಮ್ #IPL2023# Go Green”

Royal Challengers Bangalore has played 12 IPL games in green shirts so far. They have a poor record in these games as they have only won three times and ended up on the losing side eight times.
