PM Narendra Modi congratulates Argentina for winning FIFA World Cup: One of the most thrilling matches

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has joined the world in celebrating Argentina’s victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final. Argentina won their third World Cup in extraordinary style on Sunday, beating France 4-2 in a penalty shootout after Lionel Messi scored twice in a 3-3 draw. Kylian Mbappe’s valiant efforts went in vain, as he scored a hat trick for France.

PM Modi took to Twitter to express his joy and wrote that this was one of the most entertaining football games to watch.

“This will be remembered as one of the most thrilling Football matches! Congrats to Argentina on becoming #FIFAWorldCup (Trophy emoji) Champions! They’ve played brilliantly through the tournament. Millions of Indian fans of Argentina and Messi rejoice in the magnificent victory!,” Modi wrote on Twitter.

PM Modi also congratulated Kylian Mbappe’s and France’s valiant efforts while writing,

“Congratulations to France for a spirited performance at the #FIFAWorldCup! They also delighted Football fans with their skill and sportsmanship on the way to the finals.” He tagged French PM in his Twitter post @EmmanuelMacron

Coming to the Argentina vs France mega event, A Kylian Mbappe masterclass stopped Lionel Messi’s brilliance in the 120 minutes of the game, but Emi Martinez proved to be the point of difference between the two sides in the shootout. All Argentina players converted their shots, but France’s              and Kingsley Coman failed to convert their chances.

Argentina had a spirited run in the tournament after losing their first match against Saudi Arabia in the group stage. Lionel Messi was awarded his second Golden Ball after scoring a career-best seven goals in the tournament.

Messi has already announced that he will not return to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With this win, Messi completed his illustrious trophy his case and put an end to the GOAT debate between him and Cristiano Ronaldo.
