The prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), from the legendary Lord’s Cricket Ground. On Wednesday, the club awarded world champion captain Mahindra Singh Dhoni a “lifetime membership” with four other top Indian internationals. The others are Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, ex-captain Mitali Raj, and the legendary Jhulan Goswami. The MCC has announced the appointment of 19 new Honorary Life Members from eight pilot countries.
The club’s Cricket Committee sees the life sentences of players as recognition of the “outstanding international careers of some great players”. Membership is open to anyone who has made an “outstanding contribution” to a club or sport. Five Indian players are Honorary Life Members. Jhulan Goswami, who retired from the one-day match between England and India at Lord’s last year, is the ODI Women’s top scorer. The list of honored cricketers includes Eoin Morgan and Kevin Pietersen from England.
