The prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), from the legendary Lord’s Cricket Ground. On Wednesday, the club awarded world champion captain Mahindra Singh Dhoni a “lifetime membership” with four other top Indian internationals. The others are Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, ex-captain Mitali Raj, and the legendary Jhulan Goswami. The MCC has announced the appointment of 19 new Honorary Life Members from eight pilot countries.
The club’s Cricket Committee sees the life sentences of players as recognition of the “outstanding international careers of some great players”. Membership is open to anyone who has made an “outstanding contribution” to a club or sport. Five Indian players are Honorary Life Members. Guy Lavender, Chief Executive Officer and Secretary of MCC said: “We are delighted to announce the creation of a new group of Honorary Life Members of MCC in preparation for the new International Summer. It is an honor for us to count you as a valued member of our club.”
The list of honored cricketers includes Eoin Morgan and Kevin Pietersen from England. Dale Steyn from South Africa, Rachael Haynes from Australia, Mohammad Hafeez from Pakistan, Mashrafe Mortaza from Bangladesh, Amy Satterthwaite and Ross Taylor from New Zealand. __________________________________________________________________________________
