England and Pakistan will face each other in the final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne on Sunday, November 13.
With an eye on one of the big prize, both the 2009 and 2010 world cup winners will look to give it their all and become champions for the second time. But they might face obstacles in their plans due to rain as per meteorological predictions.
According to the Melbourne weather forecast, a downpour is expected during T20 World Cup Final game. There are 95% chances of rain spoiling the game, and even though there’s a reserve day in place, things are not looking good because rain is expected to hamper the proceedings the next day as well.
So, keeping in the mind the threats of rain, the ICC’s Event Technical Committee has made a big change and revised the playing conditions. The ICC said in a brief statement,
“Additional time will be provided to complete the match on the reserve day if rain disrupts the finale,”
“The Event Technical Committee (ETC) has increased the provision of additional playing time on the reserve day to four hours from the original provision of two hours (clause 13.7.3 of the Playing Conditions), in case more time is required to complete the match and get a result. It may be noted that 10 overs per side are required to constitute a match in the knockout stage, and every effort will be taken to complete the match on the scheduled match day,”
Earlier, Pakistan and England have faced each other in 28 T20 matches. Out of these28 games, ENG have won 18 whereas, PAK have come out victorious on 9 occasions (only half in comparison to ENG). One game ended without any appropriate result.
Overall, the clash between the ENG and PAK for T20 World Cup 2022 Final will be full of excitement, and the result will decide who will success to lift their second trophy.
However, as per the experiences between the two in T20 matches, England have more chance to win, but there is also a fair chance for PAK as they bounced back in the ongoing T20 World Cup with two consecutive losses in the group stage.
