
England claimed their second T20 World Cup title on Sunday in Melbourne. The 2010 champion team beat Pakistan by five wickets in the T20 World Cup 2022 Final at MCG in Melbourne.
Chasing 138 for a win, Ben Stokes held his nerves with an unbeaten half-century (52 off 49 balls) as England overhauled the target with six balls to spare. Thirty years after losing the 50-over World Cup final to Pakistan at the same ground, the English team turned the tables on the South Asians with brilliant death bowling and with Stoke’s superb finishing inning in the chase.
Earlier, in the first inning of the final game, Pakistan posted 137/8 in 20 overs. Captain Babar Azam (32 off 28 balls) scored the most after Shan Masood (38 off 28 balls). Opener Mohammad Rizwan (15 off 14 balls) went out early, while all-rounder batter Shadab Khan scored 20 off balls. For ENG, Sam Curran took three wickets for 12 runs in four overs. He bowled with an incredible 3.00 economy rate. Adil Rashid took 2 and Chris Jordan took two wickets each, while Ben Stokes got one.
For Pakistan during the second inning of the game, Haris Rauf took two wickets, while Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Wasim got one wicket each. Iftikhar spelled 0.5 balls and spent 13-runs with the highest economy rate of 15.60 from their side.
