Emma Raducanu has been struggling with multiple hand & ankle injuries & has been undergoing minor surgeries. The 2021 US Open champion had a slew of injuries & had to pull out of Madrid Open in April with a hand injury.
The 2021 US Open winner shared the update about her health on social media while lying on a bed with a handwritten note.
“It is safe to say the last 10 months have been difficult as I dealt with a recurring injury on a bone of both hands,” she said.
“I tried my best to manage the pain and play through it for most of this year and the end of last year by reducing practice load dramatically, missing weeks of training as well as cutting last season short to try to heal it. “Unfortunately it’s not enough. I’m having a minor procedure done on both hands to resolve the issues. “I’m disappointed to share that I will be out for the next few months and while I am at it will have another minor procedure due on my ankle.”
Emma has been struggling with form & fitness since her win at the US Open Title, her withdrawal from Madrid Open will see her fall outside the top 100 list for the first time since her breakthrough in New York. She currently stands at 85th position. She also could not manage to win the first round in Miami & Stuttgart & lost straight sets to Coco Gauff in the second round of the Australian Open.
