Just a couple of days after concluding the ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, the 10 Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises have to announce their Retention List to the BCCI ahead of the IPL next season mini-auction of December 23 in Kochi. Kolkata Knight Riders have lost Australian star Pat Cummins and England’s Sam Billings before the Retention Day deadline at 5 pm on November 15 as both have decided to skip IPL 2023.

In the order, Actress Preity Zinta co-owned Punjab Kings have the biggest purse so far before finalizing their Retention List, which stands at Rs 8.45 crore while IPL 2022 debutants Lucknow Super Giants have the smallest at Rs 5 crore.

However, the 10 teams can build on this purse by releasing some players before the Retention Day deadline of can transfer players between franchises in the transfer window as well. Three players have been officially traded so far- Royal Challengers Bangalore trading Jason Behrend Orff to Mumbai Indians while IPL 2022 champions Gujrat Titans traded Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz to Kolkata Knight Riders.

Former Chennai Super Kings captain Ravindra Jadeja was rumored to be on the transfer list but MS Dhoni’s side have decided to retain the top-class all-rounder while releasing stars like Chris Jordan, Adam Milne, and Mitchell Santner before the Retention Day deadline.

It is also a general talk in the IPL arena that MS Dhoni will take retirement after IPL 2023. In this context, the former India captain has admitted that he will represent CSK next season. It might be an end from cricket after the next IPL season, but the 41-year-old legendary wicketkeeper batter has not been confirmed officially yet.

However, a month ago, MS Dhoni said that he will represent Chennai Super Kings in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League during a franchise event in Chennai.
