The WTA Finals, the most prestigious title of Caroline Garcia’s career thus far, was awarded to her for her great tennis play this season. Garcia entered the year ranked 74 in the world.
On Monday, the 2022 WTA Finals came to a finale, with Garcia, then age 29, taking first place.
She participated in four finals, winning the WTA Finals, the Cincinnati Open, the Poland Open, and the Bad Homburg Open, among other championships.
Garcia faced Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus in the final match of her most successful season to date and defeated her in straight sets to win the year-end championships.
Chris Evert, a Grand Slam winner, responded to Caroline Garcia’s victory and praised her, telling her that she “worked hard for it” and advising her to keep competing.
For defeating Sabalenka in the final, the French player got $1.57 million in prize money, which included $1.24 million in prizes and a base participation fee of $110,000.
