BCCI has declared the team for the ICC World Test Championship final. India will take on Australia in the WTC last at the Oval in June. The BCCI has recalled the in-form Ajinkya Rahane for the match.
Former vice-captain Rahane played the last of his 82 Tests in January 2022 but has been in emotional form in the ongoing Indian Premier League Twenty20 event. India also reached the final of the initial WTC in June 2021 but lost to New Zealand by eight lattices in a rain-soaked contest in Southampton. Besides Rahane, there are some other surprising inclusions. KS I added Bharat and Jaydev Unadkat to the team after lately appearing in friendlies for India.
Bharat will come in place of the injured Rishabh Pant.
India squad: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, KL Rahul, KS Bharat (wicketkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj
